For years now, our agency has been committed to a flexible work environment, as the positive impact on our staff’s well-being and productivity is undeniable. At Bloom, we already offer:
- A flexible work schedule
- Unlimited work from home days
- Summer hours
- Physical offices in Montreal and Toronto
In March 2020, in an effort to keep our team members and clients safe, we temporarily switched to a remote-first approach. Thankfully, this unexpected transition was pretty seamless due, in part, to the flexible policy already in place.
Since then, Bloom’s management team has been closely monitoring the situation and looking for the best solution. Despite the fact that the pandemic is not behind us, we already have an idea of what the future of work will look like at Bloom. We have outlined our vision below.
The Future of Work at Bloom
The COVID-19 crisis has drastically changed our work routine. A year of remote work has confirmed that working from home comes with a lot of benefits: less time wasted during commute, more time for personal activities, fewer distractions which helps improve productivity, etc.
These benefits are now deeply rooted in our everyday lives and we want our new work policy to reflect them.
But, we also acknowledge the fact that working from home isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Some Bloomers mentioned that:
- They were feeling lonely
- They missed the office and the social activities
- Their work environment at home isn’t quite adequate
- They find it difficult to bond with co-workers
Because everyone’s needs are different, Bloom wants to provide everyone with a workplace that works for them, whether it’s at home, in the office or somewhere in between.
Introducing Our Flexible Work Policy: “Bloom From Anywhere”.
Bloom is committed to providing the right working conditions for everyone. Once government guidelines allow it, each Bloomer will have the option to choose one of the following options:
- 100% remote work regardless of their geographic location (timezone permitting).
- Return to the office full-time, in Toronto or Montréal.
- A combination of the two options based on a predetermined schedule
Of course, exceptions may apply in all three cases. An employee who works at the office full-time will have the possibility to work from home on special occasions. A full-time remote employee is more than welcome at office for a client meeting or special event.
Our employees have demonstrated their resilience and ability to adapt time and time again. Therefore, we know that they will be able to continue their professional activities as usual, regardless of where they work.
We also understand that this new way of work might require tweaks along the way, we look forward to our team’s feedback to iterate as needed.
We are confident that this transition will go smoothly, thanks to our flexible work policy already in place before the COVID-19 crisis, as well as our learnings over the last year.
